Localization technology is not just NMT! Two weeks ago we attended the TAUS Global Content Conference in Salt Lake City, which worked as a reminder for all of us that neural machine translation (NMT) should not be the only thing to spring to mind when it comes to localization technology.
From Mozilla’s system for natural-sounding translations (Fluent 1.0) to Wordly’s real-time conference translation system and Transifex’s in-context solution (disclaimer: as well as lexiQA’s API-based “QA as-you-type” solution), one could tell that the diversity in current translation technology is wider than it might appear to be to an untrained eye.
A good summary of the Game-Changer Innovation Contest can be found here. Congratulations to Wordly for a great presentation and getting the coveted award. And our thanks to TAUS for hosting another excellent event. Until next time!
